No.PR-77 May 16, 2020 New Delhi PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Training session on “How to register in Government E-Market Place as a Seller for MSMEs” New Delhi, 15th May 2020: Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of India’s businesses and its famed entrepreneurial spirit. This sector employs nearly 11 crore Indians in over six crore enterprises; it accounts for a third of India’s GDP and more than a third of our exports. MSMEs have been passing through a hard time due to the Covid-19 pandemic since an extended nationwide lockdown has meant units have been shut for more than a month. This has meant a severe shortage of working capital, labor, and livelihoods. PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized in the association of Government E-Market Place, Ministry of Commerce, Govt of India organized a Training session on “How to register in Government E-Market Place as a Seller for MSMEs”. Shri Sanjay Joseph, IRS, Head Training, Government e-Market Place in his welcome address said that GeM is a one-stop solution to the lengthy procedure of Govt. procurement. He was the key guest speaker of the session. He also mentioned GeM has evolved rapidly and is continuously adding new functionalities and features to enable the buyers to take the right decision. There is an urgent need that the decision to procure more and more goods and services through GeM is to be made to help the MSME industry, Mr. Suraj Sharma, Facilitator Government E-Market Place was the key trainer on the occasion. Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, Senior Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave the welcome address and acknowledged the MSMEs are the bedrock of our economy and they play a pivotal role in improving the country’s economic output. GeM being the one-stop marketplace to promote businesses will boost the sector of manufacturers and service providers (MSMEs) and steer them to the path of development. Mr. Dev Prakash Goyal, Co-Chair, MSME Committee, PHD Chamber said during the session said GeM can help MSMEs sing its glory by kicking their businesses up a notch and stated that GeM has been welcomed by the industry and would encourage more and more entrepreneurs to start doing business with the Government organizations. The webinar was moderated by Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, Principal Director, PHD Chamber. The training session was attended by many seniors members of PHD Chambers and received extensive participation of more than 70 MSMEs from sectors such as Information Technology, Electrical goods, transport services, etc., from across the country attended the training program.
