PHD Chamber organizes a Webinar on Higher Education Post COVID-19: Challenges and Opportunities

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an Interactive Webinar on Higher Education Post COVID-19: Challenges and Opportunities on Saturday, 11th April, 2020. The session was attended by more than 228 delegates.

Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Innovation Director, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India deliberated the august participants of the webinar on the current situation caused by the spread of Covid-19 and said that Covid-19 is the new normal, which has happened after the 2008 recession.

While we are advancing ourselves in terms of digital places, conducting online classes and using innovative tools for education, we are concerned regarding practical learning as an aspect of education, said Dr Gambhir.

While everything is available online, slowly and gradually we have to come out with a decent blend of 80:20 or 70:30 kind of education system which has components of online and offline learning, as there are a lot of concerns and issues that we are facing, said Dr Gambhir.

We are optimistic that post this pandemic, there will be opening to new opportunities and developments in the Indian Education system, said Dr. Gambhir.

Mr. Anil Khaitan, Former President, PHD Chamber deliberated that it’s a situation of unprecedented nature, which requires unprecedented action.

Coronavirus, without any warfare, is to me like a third world war, which has been launched on entire humanity. However, we have to see the future opportunities in the times when the young population of India and the world is going through a massive mental metamorphosis, said Mr Khaitan.

Post Covid -19, blended learning will dramatically increase, online education will be a strategic priority at every institution, online program management, existing and potential partnerships will be rethought, home schooling programs will increase which will allow parents to help in developing the children’s skills, as well as discovering their own children’s potential and talent. Studying remotely will enable emerging countries to improve the quality of education, said Mr Anil Khaitan.

Dr. V M Bansal, Chair Education Committee, PHDCCI welcomed all the participants in the webinar and thanked them all for their time and expert views. He also said that the world will experience a change in the education sector will bring new opportunities and learning, educators have to be themselves trying to know what direction to go in for and then really try to make a serious effort to get into that direction. It is opening up new opportunities that are set for the Startups to flourish.

There will be the opening of new courses and fields which are going to open lots of new opportunities and we need to groom ourselves and our youth for these times to come, said Dr Bansal.

The other eminent speaker who deliberated on Higher Education Post COVID-19: Challenges and Opportunities were Dr. Kamlesh Vyas, Partner, Deloitte, Mr. Saurabh Jain, Vice President, Paytm, among others.
