PHD-MSME Mentoring & Guidance Centre urges students to focus on Entrepreneurship & be job providers rather than seekers

PHD Mentoring and Guidance Centre organized an interactive session “Entrepreneurship Leading to New Unicorns” on 14th October 2020 with the management students of Institute of Information Technology and Management (IITM), Janakpuri, New Delhi. The objective of this session was to kick-start and develops interest among the students about start-ups and briefs them about the virtual incubation assistance provided by the Chamber.

Prof. (Dr.) Prerna Mahajan, Director, IITM in her welcome address introduced the panelists to the audience and highlighted the importance of start-ups.

Mr. Anil Khaitan, Chair, Sunil Healthcare Ltd. and Mentor, MSME Mentoring and Guidance Centre and Former President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and in his key note address shared the mantras of being perseverant and patient for becoming successful entrepreneurs. He shared his practical experience with the students and urged the students to have a basic knowledge of finance to start their business in a profitable manner. He also stressed on quality and is of the firm belief that businesses will outshine only and only if the quality of goods or services is maintained.

Mr. Saurabh Sanyal, Secretary General, PHD Chamber of Commerce in his special address, highlighted the bleak job market scenario which has been badly hit due to the unprecedented pandemic, the Covid-19. He, in his address, motivated the students to take up entrepreneurial activity and become a job creator rather than a seeker. He also mentioned about the Chamber’s services of hand-holding, mentoring, training and guiding students right from the beginning and nurture them to become an entrepreneur.

Dr. H P Kumar, Former CMD, NSIC and Advisor, PHD Chamber of Commerce in his address mentioned the students to have complete knowledge about start-ups before entering into any business. Lack of knowledge can prove to be dangerous in entrepreneurial journey. He also stated that in order to sustain in long run, one has to innovate and work on product development. Information on various Government schemes related to start-ups should be well read by the students before entering into business to get the maximum benefit out of it.

Ms. Kanchan Zutshi, Secretary, PHD Chamber of Commerce in her concluding remarks thanked all the panelists for their presentation and motivated the students to become a member of PHD Mentoring and Guidance Centre wherein they will get the right assistance and hand-holding facility to become the next generation entrepreneurs. She also asked the students to come out with innovative business ideas if they have in their minds so that IPR assistance can be provided by the Chamber.

More than 120 Management Students of various disciplines attended and benefited from this interactive session.
