Enhance Government and Industry collaboration to promote Skill Development in the country : PHD Chamber

While appreciating the Government efforts for the promotion of skill development activity in the country, Mr Sanjay Aggarwal, Vice President ,PHDCCI said in a press statement issued here today that increased collaboration between the government and industry will create synergies for the promotion of skill development activities and enhanced innovative environment in the industry.

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a National Summit on Bridging Skill Gaps in Industry 4.0 at PHD House in New Delhi today. The objective of the summit was to discuss the ‘Skill for future in the era of Industry 4.0’ with the impact of disruptive changes in the skill sets. The discussion highlighted creation of new jobs for high skilled workers in areas of planning, configuration and adoption of new technologies.

Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, Hon’ble Minister for Labour, Employment & Training, Government of Uttarakhand while congratulating PHD Chamber for taking this initiative for organizing a special summit on skilling gaps in the industry 4.0 said that Uttarakhand is the perfect example of entrepreneurship. And going ahead the Centre, State and industry collaboration will enhance the Skill Development programmes across the country.

Ms. Sunita Sanghi, Senior Advisor, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India said that technology is changing very fast and we must keep the pace with the changing environment by creating a right manpower with the ability to take job roles in the existing sectors of the economy.

Ms. Dagmar Walter, Director, ILO DWT for South Asia and country office for India while appreciating PHD Chamber’s pivotal role in creating awareness in workplace said that skilling is a key factor for creating a decent job environment, which is fair and remunerative. He mentioned that ILO is also starting Labour market data that will provide latest trends and analysis to will help analyze the process for Skilling.

Welcoming the dignitaries, Mr. Vishal Jindal, Chair, Skill Development Committee, PHDCCI said that technology has been instrumental in the innovative manufacturing processes in the recent times. He said that PHDCCI is diligently working for strengthening the collaboration between industry and academia to enhance innovation in the economy and to bridge the skill gaps.

Dr. Rubina Mittal, Co- chairperson, Skill Development Committee, PHDCCI said that academic readiness is growing in our country to embrace the industry 4.0 skills for the students.
