BSE’s startups conceptualized to integrate small startups in the stock market ambit – Mr. Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, BSE

Speaking at the interactive session held at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Indsutry, Mr. Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, Bombay Stock Exchange emphasized on the need of having a vibrant ecosystem comprising an efficient mix of debt and equity to address the concerns of MSMEs. He further added that India is the youngest large nation in the world with a demographic dividend advantage to encash on any newer development and rapid changes in any field or sectors, be new technology or any other.

Mr. Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, Bombay Stock Exchange was speaking at the Managing Committee Meeting of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today. Dr D K Aggarwal, President, PHDCCI; Mr Sanjay Aggarwal, Senior Vice President, PHDCCI; Mr Pradeep Multani, Vice President, PHDCCI; Mr. Rajeev Talwar, Immediate Former President and Dr Mahesh Y Reddy, Secretary General, PHDCCI, graced the occasion.

Citing the current state of funding to start-ups and MSMEs, Mr. Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, Bombay Stock Exchange said that 1 out of 10,000 small businesses get funding through an investor and the remaining 9,999 have to do fund and fend for themselves. Hardly anyone gets a Private Equity investor. He added that BSE to provide an improved business environment BSE facilitates the SMEs in raising funds through its dedicated platforms, BSE-Startups and BSE-SME, where small companies can list and raise capital, enhance visibility and create a brand value. He further added the platform has helped 310 SME’s in raising Rs 3,300 crore and assured that BSE will continue to take all initiatives for the growth of SME’s and startup ecosystem.

Sharing the concerns that were identified were simplifying the MSME definitions, availability of funds which will result in improved attitude of lenders and borrowers, pull up payment delays and increasing market access for the MSMEs , said Mr. Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, Bombay Stock Exchange.
