Delhi, December 22nd 2023: PHDCCI organized INFRASTRUCTURE CONCLAVE 2023; theme Focusing  on Role of AI and Sustainable Construction in Infrastructure Sector on  22nd December 2023 at PHD HOUSE, NEW DELHI.

The Conclave was addressed by Chief Guest, Shri PVVSS Ravi Prasad, Director General Road Development and Special Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), Government of India. He mentioned “Roads infrastructure in our country should be sustainable and AI technology based tools shall be used for larger benefit of its users, keeping in mind it’s advantages and disadvantages.”

He emphasized that both the government and the private sector Infrastructure should collectively leverage opportunities and address challenges faced by all stakeholders. He further expressed his concerns about the conditions of roads and expenses, to be incurred on their maintenance and upkeep, which defeats the purpose and seriously concerns the safety of commuters and users of such roads.

Mr. Sudhir Hoshing, Chair, PHD Infrastructure Development Ports, Shipping, Roads and Waterways Committee mentioned during his address “India needs to have a sustainable infrastructure development approach with a balanced focus on increasing infrastructure investments, raising the economic efficiency of projects, integrating concepts of lifecycle costs and benefits in project planning, and improving the integration of environmental and social considerations in projects”.

Furthermore, he elaborated that the evolution of AI would further strengthen the infrastructural development. He also opined that AI algorithm can also predict the future of roads and Highways and concluded with the up scaling and rescaling of projects and integration of AI in infrastructural safety and Commitment of the planet.

 

Mr Himanshu Agarwal, Co-Chair, PHD Infrastructure Development Ports, Shipping, Roads and Waterways Committee mentioned “Industry stakeholders and the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways with a view to promoting greater involvement in the sustainable development of roads and highways sector and focused on future growth of roads and highways by 2047”.

The Roads, Highways, Inland waterways, Ports and Shipping committee at PHDCCI focuses on use of green technology and reduction of carbon footprint during the road construction activities.

During the conclave curtain raiser, speakers from Banks, Investment consultants discussed the options of reducing cost of financing while using Green Bonds, INViTs, ESG practices to make access to finance more efficient and affordable for the infrastructure projects.

Also, experts deliberated various technology options to improve road construction and reduce carbon footprint, reduction of time and cost overruns.
