UP STATE CHAPTER MEMBERS’ MEET & INTERACTIVE SESSION

The Uttar Pradesh State Chapter of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted an interactive Industry Member’s Meet on 6th June 2023 at PHD House, Lucknow to discuss the past & future activities of the Chamber along with the current Industry Scenario of the State and issues/challenges faced by the business owners in today’s time. The meeting was jointly presided by  Mr. Hemant Sapra, Co-Chair, UP StateChapter, PHDCCI & President – Karam Group and Mr. Atul Srivastava, Resident Director, UP State of PHDCCI.

 

The objective of the meaningful gathering was also to foster internal cohesion among the Industry Members of PHDCCI, along with key representatives from the secretariat and select Government officials.

 

The interactive forum was attended and participated by more than 75 guests including – Mr. Hemant Sapra, Co-Chair, UP State Chapter, PHDCCI, & President, Karam Group; Mr. Manoj Jha, Sr.Vice President, HR, Indorama India Pvt. Ltd; Dr. Vibha Mishra, Former Add. Director, Department of MSME, GOI; Mr. K M Bhargava, Director, Alaknanda Systems; Mr. Abhishek Kumar Tripathi, Asst. Vice President – Pers.& IR, Indorama India Pvt. Limited; Mr. Rishi Raj Tandon, Director, Saptrishi Infotech Pvt Ltd.; Mr. Siddhant Mishra, Director, Siddhi Constructions Pvt Ltd; Mr. K B Singh, CEO, JPS Foundation; Dr. Bindu Singh, Professor, IIIT, Lucknow; Mr. Raghav Agarwal, Director Veetaday Industries Pvt Ltd; Mr. Deepak Kumar Saha, Director, Envisage Communique Pvt. Mr. Hemant Sapra, President, Karam Group & Co-Chair, UP State Chapter, PHD Chamber gave his formal introduction as the newly appointed Co-Chair of the UP State Chapter, PHDCCI with all the members present during the session. He delivered a very elaborate address on the significance of Industrial Safety and Disaster Response. He informed that for any given industry unit, it becomes very important to include the safety practices in its area of operations and preparedness against the foresighted mishappenings / accidents and lot of industrial accidents, hazards can be prevented if only proper heed is given on the safety control part and awareness trainings are given to the workers there. Continuing on the same lines he appreciated UP Chapter’s upcoming program on Uttar Pradesh Fire and Safety Expo and Conference scheduled 28th to 30th June 2023 at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow which aims to create a platform to host deliberate discussions on Leadership in HSE Culture, emerging new trends & technologies in the safety culture, fire safety protocols, post disasters, improving resilience, mainstreaming DRR, global sustainability and changing role of industries, health, insurance and more.

 

Mr. Manoj Jha, Sr. Vice President, HR, Indorama India Pvt. Ltd. spoke about the relevance of workplace safety and stated that better safety equates to better health and healthier employees do tasks more efficiently and there would be fewer accidents in a safe working environment. He informed that safety measures can be implemented effectively when real time risks associated with the hazards are computed beforehand and then accordingly the safety precautions are devised / implemented.

 

Mr. Atul Srivastava, Resident Director, UP State Chapter, PHDCCI PHD Chamber while giving an overview on the recent activities of the UP Chapter and inviting members support in the Chapters forthcoming activities, also shed light on how PHDCCI, the National Apex Chamber acts as a catalyst in the promotion of industry, trade and entrepreneurship. Mr. Srivastava also briefed the audience about the outstanding benefits provided by the Chamber to its members in addressing their business needs.

 

Dr. Vibha Mishra, Former Add. Director, Department of MSME, Govt. of India apprised on the several schemes and subsidies facilitated by the Department of MSME for assisting the start-ups and the potential MSMEs of the State. She said that while large enterprises have access to resources and knowledge, it is the micro, small and medium enterprises that together contribute to almost half of the manufacturing output and a major number of employment opportunities because of which the Government has been advocating numerous schemes and policies, which can help these businesses to adopt and up-scale their businesses. Lots of the members enquired Dr. Mishra and got enlightened in context of their businesses growth.

 

Mr. K M Bhargava, Director, Alaknanda Systems suggested to focus on creating awareness on fire safety among the people specially on children because they are the future of the nation and they should know how to protect themselves and their surroundings from such disasters. He also said that training among the children includes assessing the possible risks that can cause a fire hazard and taking appropriate steps to prevent and minimize the damage caused due to a fire.

 

Dr. Bindu Singh, Professor, IIIT, Lucknow discussed about “Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance” (RAMP) Scheme which is a World Bank assisted Central Sector Scheme, supporting various Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID) Resilience and Recovery interventions of the Ministry of MSME. She also briefed about the role of IIIT Lucknow towards helping the Ministry of MSME in this Scheme.

 

Lots of deliberations were made towards strengthening the Industrial front of the State. It was concluded that the industry members with the Chamber should go hand in hand with the Government to make further progress towards this direction

 

The State Chapter Secretariat took note of several meaningful suggestions/recommendations given by the member audience to improve the role of the PHDCCI in its mission to positively impact the economic growth and development of the State through its policy advocacy and other industry strengthening activities.

 

The industry members were very delighted to attend the forum and assured full cooperation in the further course of the Chamber’s activities.

 

The session concluded with the joint vote of thanks by Mr. Hemant Sapra, Co-Chair & Mr. Atul Srivastava, Resident Director, Uttar Pradesh Chapter, PHD Chamber.

 

The interactive session was well attended / interacted by more than 75 distinguished guests from different walks of the Industry.
