PHDCCI Successfully Hosts “Track & Trace 2025” Conference, Championing Smart Packaging and Resilient Supply Chains

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) successfully organized the “Track & Trace 2025 – Packaging Solutions in Labelling and Serialisation” conference on 11th July 2025 at PHD House, New Delhi. The Conference, themed “Empowering Transparency: Smart Packaging and Phygital Traceability for a Resilient Supply Chain,” underscored the critical need for an efficient Track & Trace system in India, aligning perfectly with the government’s agenda for implementing a National Track & Trace Mechanism, as announced in the Union Budget 2025. The Conference was Supported by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) and the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB), Government of India. the Conference successfully served as a crucial platform for dialogue and collaboration.

 

The inaugural session featured distinguished speakers including Dr. Rajeev Ranjan, IAS (Retd), Former Special Secretary, GST Council, Ministry of Finance; Mr. Manas Sarkar, Head – Sustainability & Business HR, UFlex Ltd.; Mr. S. Swaminathan, CEO, GS1 India; and Dr. Viktor Zemlicka, International Expert, Secure Supply Chain & Track & Trace, Switzerland, all of whom highlighted the national imperative for robust serialization systems, GST-linked traceability, and global compliance standards.

Throughout the day, over 20 speakers contributed to in-depth discussions across three key sessions. The first session, Consumer-Centric Traceability – The New Brand Imperative, focused on brand protection, export traceability, and digital labeling compliance, featuring insights from Mr. Amit Mohan Govil, Director General, CEIB; Dr. Sudhanshu, Secretary, APEDA, Ministry of Commerce & Industry; Ms. Anushree Lakshminarayanan, Director – External Affairs, IPM India; and Mr. Prashant Kumar Gupta, CBO & VP, Shriram Veritech Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

 

The second session, Serialization & Labelling – Foundations of Secure Supply Chains, delved into India’s unified traceability framework and customs modernization, with contributions from Mr. Alok Kumar, EVP, GST Network; Dr. Bijendre Kumar Meena, Additional Director, NACIN; Mr. Arvind Kumar Gupta, Asst. Commissioner (Drugs), FSDA, Govt. of UP; Mr. Akhlas Ahmed, AVP – New Product Developments, Mankind Pharma Ltd; and Mr. Nakul Pasricha, MD & CEO, PharmaSecure.

 

The third and final session, E-commerce, IoT & Real-Time Visibility, explored the future of packaging with speakers like Mr. Sumit Kapoor, Customer Trust External Relations Manager, Amazon India; Mr. Ankit Arora, Senior Manager, GS1 India; Mr. Rahul Gupta, Sr. VP, Bar Code India; and Ms. Ratika Jain, Strategic Advisor, VeK – Policy Advisory & Research.

 

The day-long conference concluded with a powerful call to action: India’s packaging and labeling ecosystem must be future-ready, with efficient and effective digital traceability serving as a cornerstone of tax governance, brand protection, and export competitiveness. PHDCCI reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating public-private dialogue, policy advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives to promote secure, compliant, and globally aligned packaging systems.

The conference was strategically partnered by Bar Code India, PharmaSecure, and Shriram Veritech Ltd., with VeK – Policy Advisory & Research as the Knowledge Partner. Various industry associations provided their valuable support. The day-long conference was efficiently moderated by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Sangrai, Director, PHDCCI, and saw the participation of over 120 industry delegates.
