Uganda offers immense investment and trade opportunities: Mohammad Kajala

Uganda High Commission in India with the support of PHD Chamber of Commerce is organizing a three day Road Show from 16 to 18 September at Hotel Clarks Amer, Jaipur to discuss the immense investment and business opportunities and invite investors from India to en cash the same in Uganda.

A curtain Raiser Press briefing was organized on 15th September 2021. Speaking on the occasion Shri Digvijay Dhabriya Chairman, PHDCCI-Rajasthan Chapter informed about century old friendly Indo-Ugandan relations. Large number of Indians settled in Uganda have contributed significantly to the growth and development of trade and industry and through its robust Policy framework and other facilities Uganda is attracting foreign investment and entrepreneurs so that the existing adverse balance of trade can be improved, Shri Dhabriya informed. Both the countries are committed for this and the Road Show at Jaipur is being organized in this direction, he said.

During the briefing Shri Mohammad Kajala, Dy. High Commissioner, Uganda High Commission in India informed about immense business opportunities in different sectors for the investors. The potential sectors include Oil and Gas, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Food Processing, Dairy, Mines and Minerals, Healthcare, Education, Skill Development, Tourism, Film making, Information & Communication Technology, Shri Kajala informed. At present the total exports from India to Uganda is of the order of USD 800 million as against meager import of USD 47 million resulting in a very adverse balance of trade for which both the countries are committed to improve the same. Through its investors friendly policies and Ease of Doing Business Uganda is striving to achieve maximum value addition of its resources in the country. During the three day Hybrid Road Show senior Ministers and Government officials of different departments would be interacting with the Indian investors and industry leaders and giving details of opportunities, facilities and incentives, legal and policy framework for the investors and looking for new partnership and collaborations from Indian investors and entrepreneurs for harnessing the opportunities, Shri Kajala added. The rich cultural heritage of Uganda would also be exhibited through various cultural performances, he informed.

During the three day Road Show detailed deliberations would be held on investment climate and opportunities in ICT, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, SME, Trade Promotion, Tourism, Film making sectors for attracting Indian investors.
