Uganda invites Indian investors for its Oil & Gas Sector

The three day Road Show being organized by Uganda High Commission in collaboration with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry witnessed keen interest of Indian investors on the first day. Virtually inaugurating the Road Show Hon’ble Minister of State for International Cooperation, Government of Uganda, Mr. Oryem Okello, informed that Indian investment is the priority of Uganda Government and investors would be provide all facilities and support so that their partnership in the development of different sectors could be ensured.

On this occasion welcoming the delegated Ms. Grace Akello dwelt light on the immense investment opportunities available in Uganda and assured that investors would be provided all help and facilitation by the Uganda High Commission in India.

Shri Sanjay Aggarwal, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in his address assured that Chamber would be willing to play the catalytic role in mobilizing investment by Indians in Uganda working in tandem with Uganda High Commission and provide necessary assistance and guidance to investors for ensuring increased investment and bi-literal between the two countries.

Speaking as Guest of Honour Shri Yaduvendra Mathur, former senior bureaucrat and CMD, EXIM Bank and Special Secretary, Niti Aayog, Government of India shared his experience while working in that region and observed that Uganda offers a favourable eco system for trade and investment by Indian investors in Uganda and investors should take advantage of it.

On the first day of the Road Show, virtually joining the show senior officials of Uganda Government namely Mr. Martin Muhangi, Dy. Director, Uganda Investment Authority, Mr. Andrew Mugerwa, Director, Investment Promotion, Uganda Development Cooperation, Mr. Abel Kagumire, Commissioner, Customs, Uganda Revenue Authority, Mr. Vincent Kedi, Commissioner, Geology Survey, & Mr. Malinga Honey, Director, Petroleum, Ministry of Energy and Minerals made detailed presentation on the Tax Regime, Invest climate, robust policy framework & various incentives and concessions available for different sectors including Agro, Food Processing, Tourism, Infrastructure, Hospitality, Healthcare, Pharma, ICT, Oil & Gas, Mines & Minerals, Dairy etc. for attracting investment.

Shri Digvijay Dhabriya, Chair, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rajasthan Chapter appreciated the free trade agreement Uganda enjoys with USA and European countries which offers tremendous opportunities for Indian investors.
