Hon’ble Union Minister of State (IC) for Housing and Urban Affairs; Civil Aviation and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, addressing the 114th Annual Meeting of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that corporate tax has been slashed to among the lowest in the world. He urged the industry to collaborate with the government in driving economic growth. Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and President, BJP (Delhi unit) Mr. Manoj Tiwari and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Mr. Suresh Prabhu also addressed the gathering discussing the outline of plans for India and its way forward.

Mr Puri discussed three major initiatives of the government: transforming India into a $5 trillion economy, civil aviation to drive economic growth, and Vision 2030. He said, “The Prime Minister has a vision that by 2020 every Indian will have a home which they can call their own, with the title in the name of the lady of the house, thereby empowering women. We had to construct 1 crore houses with advanced technology but with the revised plan, it became 1.12 crore units. I am pleased to tell you we already have sanctioned 90 lakh units and by the end of year hope to sanction the rest and start the grounding process next year forth.”

Addressing the Delhi’s Vision 2030, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and President, BJP (Delhi unit) Mr. Manoj Tiwari, expressed his dream of living in a clean and unified Delhi. He said, “I dream of a Delhi where the city has 15,000 public buses on the roads against the current number of just 2,800, to promote the usage of public transport in Delhi. I would like to see better connectivity between the bus stops and Metro stations to help commuters. He also expressed the hope that cycling tracks are built along the banks of the Yamuna which has clean flowing water.” He talked about how this vision is achievable.

Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Mr. Suresh Prabhu said: “Productivity is going to drive economic activity. With more infusion of technology, the inclusivity aspect will grow. I am sure of India reaching $5 trillion economy. It is only a matter of time, and will happen when social policies are aligned with economic goals.” President PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rajeev Talwar, in his welcome remarks observed that civil aviation is transforming economic growth in India. He said, “He noted that Mr Prabhu’s passion and ideas for India’s economic success will inspire policy making in several areas of economic activity.”
