PHDCCI and BSE join hands for Equity listing and to expanding Capital Market Access for MSMEs

 New Delhi | August 17, 2026: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) and BSE Limited (BSE) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting and facilitating greater access for raising of Equity Capital and providing capital-market opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India. The MOU was signed today between the two organizations at PHDCCI office by Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO & Secretary General, PHDCCI, and Mr. Sundararaman Ramamurthy, Managing Director & CEO, BSE Limited.

The strategic collaboration seeks to strengthen awareness among MSMEs about the benefits of equity financing particularly through the BSE SME Platform, while supporting eligible enterprises in understanding and navigating the SME listing process. The partnership would provide MSMEs with greater access to knowledge, expert guidance, mentorship and capacity-building initiatives, enabling them to better understand the opportunities and requirements associated with raising capital through the capital markets.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sundararaman Ramamurthy, Managing Director & CEO, BSE Limited, said “BSE is committed to strengthening India’s MSME ecosystem by providing enterprises with access to a well-established and credible capital-market platform. The BSE SME Platform offers eligible businesses an opportunity to access growth capital while enhancing visibility and corporate credibility. Our collaboration with PHDCCI will help take awareness and knowledge about SME listing closer to businesses across India. By combining BSE’s capital-market expertise with PHDCCI’s extensive MSME outreach, we aim to enable more enterprises to understand and effectively leverage the capital markets for their growth and expansion.”

 Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO & Secretary General, PHDCCI, while thanking the BSE for taking this collaborative initiative said “MSMEs are the backbone of India’s economic growth, employment generation and entrepreneurship development. Access to timely and appropriate capital remains critical for their ability to scale, innovate and compete in a rapidly evolving business environment. Our partnership with BSE is an important step towards creating greater awareness among MSMEs about equity financing and capital-market opportunities. Through this collaboration, PHDCCI would work to connect MSMEs with the right knowledge, expertise and institutional support so that eligible enterprises can confidently explore the SME listing route and unlock new avenues for sustainable growth.”

Under the partnership, BSE would provide subject-matter experts and trainers for awareness programs, seminars, MSME camps, workshops, roadshows and knowledge sessions. The collaboration would also facilitate specialized mentorship and establish a nodal-point mechanism to help MSMEs understand the SME listing process and access appropriate capital-market opportunities.

 

As per the MOU, PHDCCI would facilitate reaching out to SMEs, member associations, industry bodies and regional chambers to create awareness and capacity building of interested SMEs. It would also support policy advocacy, stakeholders’ engagement and knowledge initiatives aimed at strengthening MSMEs’ access to capital.

It would also facilitate seminars, workshops, roadshows, MSMEs’ camps and knowledge sessions, along with stakeholder engagement and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at strengthening MSMEs’ access to capital and enabling them to explore new avenues for business growth.
