MP GOVT invites Pvt Sector to explore opportunities in Energy Efficiency in its Municipalities

PHDCCI MP Chapter in association with MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd organized an online interactive session on Energy Efficiency Opportunities in Municipal Corporations of Madhya Pradesh. The program was aimed to spread awareness about energy efficiency in the area of water supply, street lights and sewage system, of Municipal Bodies under Urban Administration & Development Department Govt. of Madhya Pradesh.

Ms Minakshi Singh, IAS, Additional Commissioner Urban Administration & Development Govt. of MP appreciated the initiative of MPUVN and PHDCCI and said that these kind of programs are very useful for the municipal bodies of MP in order to attain energy efficiency in their operations.

Dr. Surendra Bajpai, Executive Engineer and Project In-charge MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd in his address gave an insight of various activities and programs that are being implemented by MPUVN as SDA of Bureau of Energy Efficiency GoI, in the state of Madhya Pradesh. He urged all the stakeholders to adopt practical approach while thinking of energy efficiency. He apprised that MPUVN is the first agency in the country which installed energy efficient LED lights at a large scale and that is a record at national level. He added that under Kusum scheme of GoI MPUVN is planning to install quite a lot of solar pumps.

Mr. Arijit Sengupta, Director Bureau of elaborated that there is a huge scope of Energy Efficiency in municipal corporations in the area of water supply and street lighting as by adopting energy efficient products cost of operation as well as energy can be saved at high scale.

Mr. Gaurav Mamik, Co-Chairman Power, Renewal and Alternate Energy Committee PHDCCI New Delhi discussed about various projects and opportunities in Energy Efficiency in Madhya Pradesh. On behalf of PHDCCI he insured full support to State Govt for working on new models of Energy Efficiency in the state.

Mr. Rajeev Agrawal, MD Ananya Packaging P Ltd Mandideep while moderating technical session briefed about current scenario of Energy efficiency in Municipal Corporations. He apprised that near about 40% of energy is consumed in water supply and therefore these kind of sessions are very important to know about new technologies and products in energy efficiency.

Mr. Ajay Goel, Director Brite LED P Ltd discussed about role and challenges of Energy Service Companies in India. He added that since financing is a big constraint for Municipal Corporations in adopting any new technology or product in the existing system, hence here ESCos can play a key role by providing financial support to these bodies through new projects.

Mr. Ramakant Mishra, Product Manager, Crompton Greaves Ltd. spoke on Variable Frequency Drives that can be used to save power and energy of motors. Automation can reduce the cost of maintenance and controlling of system. He emphasized on use of solar water pumps thereby saving the cost of electricity.

Mr. Nikhil Kher, Managing Partner, Econenotech International spoke on cost saving technology in water treatment, as there is a huge cost involved in treating the water to make it drinkable. Dr. Tripta Thakur Prof. Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) stressed on use of IOT and other techniques to save energy. Mr. Pradeep Karambelkar, Chairman MP PHDCCI proposed a hearty vote of thanks to all the participants.
