 Need for long term Strategic Policy for Integrated Energy Management, Said Dr. C. Laxma Reddy, Additional Director General (Exploration), Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

 

Hydrocarbon Committee PHDCCI organized Hydrocarbon Summit 2022: Towards Integrated Energy Management on 23rd September 2022 at The Imperial, Connaught Place, New Delhi. The objective of the Summit was to bring together policy makers, energy leaders and industry professionals for an unparalleled opportunity to share insights on the latest trends affecting the global energy ecosystem including geopolitical shifts, the evolving global economy, energy supply and next generation energy solution.

 

Dr. C. Laxma Reddy, Additional Director General (Exploration), Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India said the summit is very apt and relevant in current Scenario. He said that the Hydrocarbon sector is a big value Chain and in sync with Our Prime Minister’s futuristic goal of 10% reduction in import of Oil and Natural Gas. He further stated that the whole globe has suffered two Black swan events viz. namely COVID-19 catastrophe and Russia-Ukraine war, which has led to demand-supply gap and this has led to disruptions in oil and gas market. There is a need for a long term Strategic Policy for Integrated Energy Management, Said Dr. C. Laxma Reddy.

 

Mr. Ashu Singhal, ED (CSPA, CRO, TQM& ED), GAIL India Ltd said that the global consumption of gas is in the range of 24-25% and there is a need to create enablers for gas for cleaner fuel. He further suggested that there is a need for long term holistic infrastructure policy to seek the demand of consumers. There is a lot which needs to be done on the policy front for giving more impetus to the energy market.

 

While delivering the welcome address Mr. V. K. Mishra, Chair, Hydrocarbons Committee, PHDCCI; Director (Finance), Petronet LNG said that India does have huge potential in city gas distribution. Asia and Europe are competing for resources and Europe is willing to pay any price to be ahead in the race. India’s energy consumption is one-third of the total global average and there is tremendous scope for an increase in the consumption of energy in India

 

Formal Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Pawan Tibrawalla, Co-Chair, Hydrocarbons Committee; Chairman & Managing Director, Archit Buildcon Pvt. Ltd. He said this summit has provided deep insights towards emerging and new energy markets. Session was moderated by Dr Jatinder Singh ASG, PHDCCI.
