PHDCCI felicitates Senior Tennis Sportspersons
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry bestowed felicitation honours on Senior Tennis players at a ceremony hosted at the PHD House.
Senior players who were felicitated included Mr. Rohit Rajpal; Mr. Balram Singh; Mr. Rakesh Kohli (only World Championship player to have represented India in both Lawn Tennis and Table Tennis); Mr. Aditya Khanna (current India Singles rank 17); Mr. Ashish Khanna; Mr. Swarandeep Singh; Mr. Jagdish Tanwar and Dr. Ajeet Bharadwaj.
All the players shared their memories and stories of achieving their dreams of playing for the nation and also drew inspiration from their colleagues of the fraternity.
Mr. Preetam B. Yashvant, IAS, Commissioner (Vigilance), Rajasthan shared his sporting memories and boosted the morale of the players.
Lt Gen Shankar Prasad, President, Vasant Vihar Society & Club was the Special Guest among the invitees who with his words of wisdom, knowledge and humour enthralled everyone and highlighted the importance of fitness for sportsmen.
Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry led the opening speech of the evening and in an engrossing talk, he not only encouraged the players to keep playing but also threw light on the importance of Seniors Tennis tournament. He also mentioned that PHD Chamber has always been on the forefront of getting associated with tournaments and Sports federations for developing Sports in the country to lay the foundation of a great Sporting nation. He was also one of the participants in the ongoing tournament.
Mr. Arshad Nizam Shawl, Chair, Sports & Youth Affairs Committee, PHD Chamber proposed vote of thanks.
Dr. Ajeet Bhardwaj, Co-Chair of the Sports & Youth Affairs Committee and also one of the participants of the tournament, envisioned the importance of such felicitation honours and shared his Tennis background which motivated the players.
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the title sponsor of the ongoing PHDCCI Delhi ITF Seniors Tennis Tournament played at the R K Khanna stadium in Delhi.
