PHD Chamber has a big role to play to make India a $5 trillion economy: says Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home Affairs, GOI at PHDCCI

New Delhi, 7th September 2019: PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized its prestigious flagship event – States’ Policy Conclave 2019 in the capital city – Delhi today. The conclave was conceptualized with the mission of Empowering States, to strengthen India’s federal structure of governance and its contribution in Making India a $5 Trillion Economy.

The conclave hosted the key industry and government stakeholders and policymakers to facilitate ease of doing business and explore investment opportunities to rejuvenate economic growth and to generate employment opportunities for the growing young work force.

While welcoming the delegates, Shri Sharad Jaipuria, Former President & Chair, State Development Council, PHDCCI said, “States’ Policy Conclave supports the vision and mission-in-progress of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to achieve USD 5 trillion economy and build a new India with inclusive welfare for all. The role of states is highly crucial in attaining this vision by ensuring the best desired outcomes in vital areas, such as: boosting public and private investments, ease of doing business, bolstering manufacturing with a special reference to MSMEs, revitalizing exports, job creation, state of the art infrastructure, among others.

Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home Affairs, GOI Congratulated PHD chamber for the long successful story and initiatives that have been taken by the chamber to sensitize the government and policy makers and the states. States’ policy conclave is instrumental in boosting the Indian economy that is on the path of transformation.” Says Shri G K Reddy.

He said “that MSME’s sector has huge potential to boost the Indian economy. The sector has potential of generating employment opportunities and to invite foreign investors to invest in India with improved ease of doing business environment in India.”

Smt Vini Mahajan, ACS, Dept of Investment Promotion; Industries & Commerce; IT; Governance Reforms & Public Grievances- Govt of Punjab talked about the values & benefits of collaboration among states, “India prospers when center and state work together.”

Dr Shamika Ravi, Member, PM’s Economic Advisory Council, India and Director said, “India is an economy of 28 state economies & some vibrant UTs and it is imp to think of the potential for every state & each one of states has to come up with its own strategy to be a part of the larger global economy.”

To boost the Biotech startup ecosystem in every state, a special session titled Biotech State Connect Session included Mr. Deepak Bagla, MD and CEO of Invest India, and Dr Mohd Aslam, MD of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).

PHD has a membership base of 1,30,000 direct and indirect members and is represented in 17 states with its own offices and has MoUs with 11 partner chambers in different states.
