 PHDCCI Punjab State Chapter in association with Invest Punjab organized a Virtual Stakeholder Consultation Meet with Government of Punjab

PHDCCI Punjab State Chapter in association with Invest Punjab organized a Virtual Stakeholder Consultation Meet with Government of Punjab on 8 October 2021 to discuss various issues and concerns of the Industry members and also apprise them on the Key initiatives taken by Punjab Government for the Industry.

In his opening remarks, Mr. R S Sachdeva, Managing Committee Member, PHDCCI mentioned that PHD Chamber looks forward to a dynamic policy environment through innovative policy intervention and reforms to sustain a higher growth trajectory. We are very optimistic that with investments in industrial and infrastructure sector, the State has the potential to attain a sustainable double digit growth rate.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. Ashok Khanna, Former President, PHDCCI stated that as an industrial Chamber we feel that the State Government should prioritize on attracting investments so as to induce growth and create opportunities for employment in the State. Inflow of investment is only possible with suitable infrastructure.

The Government should focus on strengthening existing infrastructure with modern facilities and uninterrupted power supply that would act as a magnet to industries to invest.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tejveer Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Government of Punjab thanked PHD Chamber for providing the opportunity to interact with industrialists on their issues of concern.

He said that the Dept. of Industries and Commerce has taken various initiatives to bolster the growth of industry in the State in terms of providing stable policy regime, good infrastructure, Focal points industrial parks, skilled manpower, good air and road connectivity; reduced compliance and easy allotment to do business.

He also addressed various issues and queries of the industry members during the programme.

Addressing the Session, Ms. Avneet Kaur, PCS, Joint CEO, Invest Punjab said that Invest Punjab is one stop office for all investments to happen in state of Punjab. She apprised industry members of the various initiatives taken by Punjab Government in the last 4.5 years with 3300 projects on board and proposed investment of 99000 crores. She made detailed presentation on ease of doing business, Business First Portal, Fiscal Incentives and key reforms undertaken by Government of Punjab to facilitate investments in the State.

Mr. Rakesh Rattan, General Secretary, Derabassi Industry Association; Mr. Sanjiv Singh, MD, Gilard Electronics Pvt. Ltd, Mohali; Mr. Ajay Mahajan, Proprietor, Uma International, Jalandhar; Mr. Gurmeet Singh Kular, Partner, Kular Sons, Ludhiana and Mr. Kamal Dalmia, Chairman, Focal Point Industries Association, Amritsar shared their industry perspective on reforms and initiatives required from Government during the session.

Mr. Karan Gilhotra, Senior Member, PHDCCI proposed formal Vote of thanks and stated that PHD Chamber looks forward to have such meaningful engagements with the Government of Punjab in future, to promote investments in the State.

More than 100 participants from trade and industrial sectors, MSMEs, Entrepreneurs and Professionals attended and benefited from the programme.
