PHDCCI Health committee organised Interaction on Changing Lives, smiles & Faces on 2nd June 2022 at PHD House, New Delhi

The program was graced by the presence of Special Guests Dr. Ashok Sethi, Specialist in Oral Surgery & Prosthodontics along with Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Mr. Pradeep Multani, President, PHDCCI and Dr. Nasir Jamal, Secretary, PHDCCI.

The program was moderated by Dr. Ravi Rathod, Joint Secretary, PHDCCI.

While welcoming the guests Mr. Pradeep Multani mentioned that the burden of oral disease is much higher in poor or disadvantaged population groups. He said that Poor dental hygiene can lead to problems that are much bigger than an unpleasant smile. He further said that in most countries, out of every 100,000 people, there are between 1 and 10 cases of oral cancer. Mr. Multani urged that our long-term outcome depends on our own efforts. We can’t always prevent every cavity, but we can reduce our risk of severe gum disease and tooth loss by staying on top of our daily oral care.

Dr. Ashok Sethi gave a detailed presentation on oral care along with the cause of poor dental hygiene, various therapies available for different dental problems and the newer treatments available now a day. Dr. Sethi mentioned process of healing as an integral part of the evolution and said that the surgeon must recognise and understand the way the body heals and must remain compliant with the principles of healing.

Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma shared the insights on dental education and said that overall, dental hygiene plays an important role not only in preserving the oral health, but also preserving the overall health as well. Prof. Verma further said that an effective community prevention program is a planned procedure that prevents the onset of a disease among a group of individuals. Many different approaches to preventing dental diseases exist and the most cost-effective method is educating the masses.

The students of ESIC dental college presented the paper about the stress & oral autoimmune disorders and assessing the potential use & benefits of Plasma Rich Fibrin in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Nasir Jamal presented formal vote of thanks and said that regular dental hygiene practices control bacterial populations in order to prevent oral health concerns, as well as the spread of infection to other parts of the body.
