PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry partners with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine to showcase real-time simulation for PSUs, Defence and R&D Labs

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in partnership with Unreal Engine, an advanced 3D Real-time creation tool, organised a webinar today to showcase opportunities and challenges in simulations specifically for Defence, PSUs and R&D Labs. The session enabled the enterprises to discover how Simulators via some use cases has changed the process, reduced costs of training and product design for government agencies.

PHDCCI has a dedicated Innovation Committee which works rigorously to promote Innovations by advising Government and regulators on framing enabling policies for improving innovation ecosystem in India.

The partnership between Unreal Engine and PHDCCI will see both organizations combine their individual efforts and lead by example, for right audiences for adoption covering organizations like Government, PSUs, Research institutions and other enterprises.

Speaking on Real-time Simulations for Defence and Public Sector Webinar, Mr. Sebastien Loze, Simulation & Training Industry Manager, Epic Games said “Millions of creators across the globe are using Unreal Engine for many applications including Training and Simulation. This is stimulating the innovation conversation at all levels in the developers’ community.” he also mentioned that “from Space exploration to health care sector there is a dire need of R&D for the development of simulation applications”. According to Mr. Loze “Models; Experience definition and execution; Deployment & Experiment result are the key elements in simulations”.

During the webinar Mr. Deepak Pahwa, Chairman, Innovation Committee, PHDCCI speaking about the usage of AR VR Technology asserted that “Over the period from 2017 to 2025, the augmented reality market size is estimated to increase by over 195 billion U.S. dollars, increasing from roughly 3.5 billion in 2017 to over 198 billion U.S. dollars in 2025”.

He also stated that “learning skills such as navigation, survival and teamwork in difficult and challenging situations can be achieved with striking realism. No other technology can provide this level of engagement or experience in the same immersive way as VR”.

In his speech Mr. Krupalu Mehta, Co-Founder, Parallax Labs asserted “there is a huge scope of opportunities in defence simulation. Also, the game engine is a key element to develop any tool for terrain simulation”. He further continued “due to immense R&D; the cost of simulations is getting lower”. He added, “India will become a world leader in defence simulation in coming years”.
