Indian Delegate Foreign Delegate

In recognition of the growing importance of the economic potential of closer linkages between India and South East Asia, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is proposing to organize the Conference on ‘India –ASEAN Business Summit: Today, Tomorrow, Together’ on 11th -12th November 2019 at PHD House, New Delhi.

The core objective of the Conference is to create opportunities for deepening trade and investment ties between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and to showcase the Indian States as the drivers of growth.

ASEAN has become one of India's largest trading partners. Post India-ASEAN FTA, total trade between the two regions has expanded substantially from US$ 45.34 billion in 2008-09 to nearly US$ 81 billion in 2017-18. The two sides expect bilateral trade to increase to US$ $200 billion by 2022.

Proposed Schedule for the First Day

  • The Conference would begin with an Inaugural Session, followed by specific state centric sessions and sectoral sessions.
  • The Inaugural session shall have the Hon’ble Minister for External Affairs, Govt. of India, 3-4 Ministers from ASEAN Countries & 1-2 Chief Ministers / Industry Ministers.
  • Post Inaugural session, the states to present their potential, prospects and areas for mutual cooperation in front of the ASEAN Countries and other stakeholders.
  • Post state centric sessions, the conference shall have focussed sectoral sessions. Some key sectors identified are - Tourism, Textiles, Garments & Accessories, Education & Skill Development, Agriculture & Food Processing, Healthcare (including pharmaceuticals and medical tourism) and Financial Services & Banking amongst others.

Proposed Schedule for the Second Day

  • To promote business linkages, the second day to focus on B2B Meetings/Match Making Sessions
  • Chambers & Associations (both from India and ASEAN) to facilitate business people for the meetings
  • Signing of MOU’s and Declarations
  • Visit to states or sightseeing organized by state /tour operators OR industry visits
