Make CSR Quantifiable and Accountable: Salman Khurshid at PHD Chamber
Make corporate social responsibility quantifiable and accountable and incentivise them said Mr. Salman Khurshid, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Government of India at a Conference on “Indian Industry & Corporate Social Responsibility” organized by PHD Chamber in the capital today. This event is the part of the India Corporate Week which the Ministry of Corporate Affairs is celebrating.
Mr. Khurshid added that CSR should be done with three Ws in mind which are, What are we doing? Why are we in this? and Which way we do it? These three Ws will help CSR activities easy to understand.
Mr. Khurshid was on the opinion that we should be able to quantify CSR like carbon credits as corporates cannot behave irresponsibly in social responsibility and should all act in, “enlightened self interest”.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Ashok Kajaria, Sr. Vice President, PHD Chamber congratulated Mr. Salman Khurshid for celebrating India Corporate Week. He added that for any corporate to succeed in the long run, the society too should benefit and the solutions should be trustworthy and sustainable.
Mr. Salil Bhandari, Vice President, PHD Chamber said that there should be fresh energy input in CSR activities by the corporates.
