Induction of franchisee to distribute power in Gurgaon/Panipat welcomed
PHD Chamber welcomes decision of Haryana Government to engage franchisee for power distribution in Gurgaon and Panipat.
Inducting franchisee distribution as in Bhiwandi and Nagpur shall reduce distribution losses substantially, ensure regular power supply and minimize consumer complaints. The decision is most appropriate as the two cities in National Capital Region (NCR) shall be in a position to offer 24X7 quality power supply to industry and trade and other consumers in general. The long term advantage shall be substantive, leading to faster pace of economic growth in the NCR, Haryana.
PHD Chamber President, Satish Bagrodia has stated that the Chamber has been advocating privatization of power distribution, particularly facilitating 24X7 power supply to industrial clusters. The decision of Shri B S Hooda, Chief Minister of Haryana is indeed a bold one. He recalled that industry suffered power cuts of between 6 to 9 hours from January to August 2009 as per sample study of the industrial sector in Haryana conducted by this Chamber.
He further added that recently, at the Chief Secretaries Summit on 14 November 2009, the Chamber had suggested a model for 24X7 power supply to industrial clusters. In the event of shortage during peak hours and in other times of power disruption, setting-up of gas based power stations will ensure regular power supply. PHD Chamber is happy that it’s suggestion was implemented by the Haryana Government.
Further more, latest technology promotes induction of Smart Grids using digital technology with the benefit of saving energy, reducing cost and increasing reliability of the system. Substantial reduction in distribution losses has been achieved in Bhiwandi and Delhi and hopefully this shall be the redeeming feature to the franchise model being adopted in Haryana.
