Delhi Urban Property Registration & Titling Act to be Announced Soon: Rakesh Mehta at PHD Chamber

The Delhi Government is ready with the Delhi Urban Property Registration and Titling Act 2009 and the same will be announced soon. This was disclosed by Mr. Rakesh Mehta, Chief Secretary, Government of NCT Delhi, at the 10th Annual Chief Secretaries’ Summit organized by the PHD Chamber. The Chief Secretary said that property based litigations are the largest source of litigation in our country and this Act shall reduce litigationd by cleary spelling out the property title and protecting interest of property owners.

He also stated that the Delhi Government is in process of amending DSIIDC Act to upgrade the maintenance and upkeep of various industrial estates in the capital territory of Delhi. DSIIDC shall be exclusively responsible for the maintenance job, said Mr. Mehta. 

He further informed that two industrial areas have already been outsourced for maintenance by DSIIDC. Other industrial estates shall be put up for bidding shortly and private players engaged in industrial estate management are being invited to undertake the job.

Mr. Mehta emphasized that the Delhi Government under its new industrial policy shall promote setting up of Knowledge Based Industries and take into account the need for protecting the environment as well. Non conforming industries shall have to close down or switch over to environment friendly technology.

The Chief Secretary added that infrastructure development is priority number one for the Delhi Government with particular focus on transport, power and water. He emphasised that new areas where the Government is looking for partnership with industry are renewable energy, solar water heating, electricity generation from bio mass conversion to bio fuels, etc.
