PHD Chamber is calling for nominations for its Annual Awards for Excellence, now in its twelfth year, from entrepreneurs, business houses and social workers for outstanding achievements / contributions towards socio-economic development. The last date for receiving nominations is August 31st 2009.

PHD Chamber Annual Awards for Excellence were instituted in 1997 to recognise Indian businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals for their outstanding achievements / contributions in select areas and for promoting corporate and individual initiatives in economic, social and educational and cultural areas.

The PHD Chamber Annual Awards recognise an entrepreneur / a corporate entity / an individual who may / may not be in the public eye or who may / may not be a well recognised celebrity. The Awards recognise those who have excelled / made an outstanding contribution in the field under consideration.

An Awards Jury, chaired by Mr. Justice R C Lahoti, Former Chief Justice of India, and comprising of distinguished citizens from various fields, will select the awardees for Good Corporate Citizen, Distinguished Entrepreneurship, Outstanding Businesswoman and Outstanding Contribution to Social Welfare.

Some of the recipients of these prestigious awards in the past have been Mr. Brijmohan Lall, Chairman and Managing Director, Hero Group of Companies, Late Dr. Parvinder Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman & Group Managing Director, Bharti Enterprises Ltd., Mr. Analjit Singh, Founder Chairman, Max India Ltd., Mr. Rajendra S Pawar, Chairman, NIIT Ltd., etc. and corporates like SAIL, HDFC, ACC, Wipro, HPCL, L&T, Dabur, etc.
