“We call upon PHD Chamber to partner in development of the State and we would remove all bottlenecks and completely help industry grow” said Maj. Gen. B C Khanduri, Chief Minister, Uttarakhand today at an Interactive Session organized by PHD Chamber in Dehradun.
The Chief Minister appealed to the industry to help it grow in the real sense, as till now only assembly units were present for availing tax benefits, but now the industry should provide more employment and enhance industrial growth. He further added that even though there are 104 ITI’s in the State but they desperately need up gradation.
The Chief Minister disclosed that he has called upon the Prime Minister to extend the incentive package of excise duty and income tax holiday beyond 2010 up to at least 2013. A consistent long term policy is a must to reap the fruits of development.
This interactive session between PHD Chamber and the State Government reviewed the investment trends and consider the issues of concern to industry and evolve an action plan for sustainable industrial growth.
“I urge industry to invest in good will which will definitely add to long term profits. But the partnership has to be a fair understanding between both the Government and the industry. “He added.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. I K Pandey, Chief Secretary assured captains of the industry that power availability this winter will be better and the State will be power surplus in coming years and the cost of hydro power will also decline. By January 2009, with the modernization of Dehradun airport large aircraft shall be in a position to land.
Dr. L K Malhotra, President, PHD Chamber said, “With increasing competition both from within the country as well as globally, industrial sector needs a special focus. Perhaps the most important prerequisite is an enabling environment for industry and services to flourish”.
