State power secretaries conference to begin tomorrow

Conference of State Power Secretaries of Northern India will be held tomorrow to discuss the power situation in the region and to suggest measure for augmenting the power supply position.  

The Conference will be addressed by the Power Secretaries of 11 States and Union Territory in the Northern Region.  “We give a lot of importance to the Annual Conference of State Power Secretaries since it provides for straight interface with industry, government and other consumers of power” says Mr. Ravi Wig, Chairman, NRD Council, PHD Chamber.

The key note address will be delivered by Mr. Anil Razdan, Union Secretary, Ministry of Power and other speakers include Mr. Deepak Gupta, Union Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy; Mr. Ashok Lavasa, Principal Secretary Power, Haryana; Mr. Sanjay Bandhopadhyay, Secretary Energy, Madhya Pradesh; Mr. Shaturghan Singh, Principal Secretary, Energy, Uttarakhand; Mr. A S Miglani, Additional Secretary, Power, Punjab; Mr. A K Singla, Joint Secretary, Power, Delhi; Mr. Rajiv Swarup, Managing Director, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Development Corporation; Mrs. Rashima Gupta, Resident Commissioner, Himachal Pradesh.

The Conference will address issues such as hydro power solar power and state level power sector reforms.  It is expected that many far reaching suggestions will emerg at the conference to ease the present power deficit faced by the industry.
