INDUSTRY DEPARTMENT OF DELHI WILL ASK DDA TO EXPAND ITS INDUSTRIAL LIST TO ACCOMMODATE KNOWLEDGE BASED INDUSTRIES INTO IT, SAYS ITS SECY.

The industry department of Delhi will once more ask DDA to add on host of knowledge based industries to its existing industrial list so that such industries become operational in the national capital, says Secretary Industries, government of Delhi Mr. Amit Yadav who is also the CMD of DSIIDC.

Mr. Yadav pointed out that as per stipulations of the on-going Master Plan of Delhi, formulated by DDA, government approvals and licenses are denied for knowledge based industries to become functional within the geographical premises of Delhi such as biotechnology, R&D and design, educational services like skill development, and pharmaceutical lab & solution.

“Owing to this stringent provision in the Master Plan 2021 of Delhi, knowledge based industries are mushrooming in the neighborhood of Delhi, denying its entrepreneurs to open up such ventures in the national capital and operate from other states”, said Mr. Yadav while inaugurating a Round Table on “Ease of Doing Business in Delhi” under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in which the President of Delhi Unit of BJP Mr. Satish Upadhyay also participated among other public figure.

The Secretary Industries said that the industry department of Delhi had approached the DDA to correct this anomaly, by expanding and broad basing the list of industry with due approval of authority concerned but the latter refused to entertain this proposal in the previous regime.

However, with the passage of time and following request from various stakeholders that the approved list for industrial units that can operate in Delhi be expanded for accommodation of knowledge based industries into it, the industry department has informally discussed the matter with the Vice Chairman of the DDA a few weeks ago, explained Mr. Yadav.

The DDA is now inclined to revise its earlier stand and willing to expand the industry list and that is why the industry department has begun a new exercise drafting a fresh proposal, asking the DDA to do the desired job with due approval of the Lt. Governor of Delhi, said Mr. Yadav.

He also promised that tendering process for lifting of all dirt and filth, accumulated in and around all industrial clusters of Delhi will be completed by March 31, 2015 as part of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ to ensure that its face is cleansed in the first quarter of next fiscal itself.

Mr. Upadhyay who presided over the Round Table said that the South Delhi Municipal Corporation which is ruled by the BJP has been asked to issue the trade licenses to business communities without any delay and the deadline of the job is prescribed for 15 days in which the seekers of such licenses would have to submit the affidavit as asked by MCD officials.

Among other who participated in the Round Table consisted of Mr. Alok B Shriram, Sr. Vice President, PHD Chamber; its Chairmen of Delhi & NCR Committee and Health Committee Mr. Rajnish Goenka and Mr. Pradeep Multani.

Mayors of South and East Delhi Municipal Corporation Mr. Khushi Ram Chunar and Smt. Meenakshi also participated in the event alongwith Additional Deputy Commissioner, South Delhi Municipal Corporation Mr. Yogesh Gupta and Executive Director of PHD Chamber, Mr. Saurabh Sanyal.
