PHD CHAMBER ORGANIZES A SESSION ON MOBILE TOWER AND CELL PHONE RADIATIONS ON TUESDAY

 

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday organized an Interactive Session on Mobile Tower and Cell Phone Radiations – Perceptions, Treats and Solutions in which the key speaker was Dr. Devra Lee Davis who currently serves as President of Environmental Health Trust, a non-profit organization, devoted to researching and controlling avoidable environmental health threats.  In her address, she covered the entire gamut of the subject weighing all its pros and corns.

 

On this occasion, the well known actress and activist, Juhi Chawla also participated as she has been the face of a campaign against the indiscriminate installation of mobile tower antennae and the hazards of electro magnetic radiation (EMR).

 

Senior Vice President of PHD Chamber, Mr. Alok B Shriram in his welcome observations said, “the possible hazards caused by mobile phone and tower radiation on human health and ecology is the subject of recent interest and study, as a result of the enormous increase in mobile phone usage and installation of mobile phone towers across India. It is high time to address this issue and provide a platform to discuss the perceptions, threats and solutions involved with it”.

 

The Executive Director, PHD Chamber, Mr. Saurabh Sanyal was of the view that every week, there are media reports on the issue of electromagnetic radiations from mobile transmission towers and cell phones being harmful to human health and constant exposure to them causing Cancer.  PHD Chamber has recommended a thorough study on the subject with adoption of state of the art antennas with enclosed base units and wired reception / transmission units as being used in other developed countries.
