SEBI will continue to safeguard the investors, says its Whole Time Member
 

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday organized a Seminar on “Understanding Recent Changes in Primary Market Regulations” in which emphasis was laid on effective and proper compliance of disclosure norms which the capital market regulator SEBI has come out from time to time and failure to do so would force the market regulator to invoke the penalty norms against defaulting entities to safeguard investors interests.
 

The Seminar was inaugurated by Whole Time Member, SEBI, Mr. Prashant Saran who said that SEBI in last 25 years have taken several pro-active measures to insert market discipline to facilitate the capital market strictly as per norms prescribed under the laws of land and those that violated them have been taken to tasks and as a result, the capital markets functioning have improved a great deal.
 

This has ensured sufficient protection to the participants of primary and secondary market, felt the whole time member, SEBI pointed out that the disclosure norms would continue to be enforced in the interest of the investors and the time will come when the Board of SEBI might take a decision to prune the compliance documents.
 

The Seminar was presided over by the Capital Market Committee, Chairman, Mr. Prithvi Haldea in which the other panelists consisted of Chief – Regulations, National Stock Exchange of India Ltd., Mr. V Narasimhan; Founder and CEO, Indiamart Intermesh Ltd., Mr. Dinesh Agrawal; Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., Mr. Prashant Gupta; Group Managing Director, Pantomath Group, Mr. Mahavir Lunawat; Managing Director & CEO, Kotak Mahindra Capital Co. Ltd., Mr. S Ramesh and Co-Chairman, Capital Market Committee, PHD Chamber, Mr. Nehal Vora.
