REGULATE PLACEMENT AGENCIES TO CURB UNSAFE MIGRATION: PHD CHAMBER AND PRAYAS
 

Roundtable on Sensitization for Safe Migration and Human Trafficking under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry has emphasized the need of cooperation at the end of the corporate sector to jointly address the complex issues of the safe migrants and human trafficking with the voluntary organizations across the nation.
 

The roundtable felt and recommended the placement agencies need to be regulated to identify the source, the transit and the destination of human trafficking.  Currently, there are no laws to regulate the placement agencies who take advantage of the lacunae in the human trafficking regulations.
 

The roundtable was addressed among others Special Commissioner, Security, Delhi Police Mr. S B K Singh and Director General, Railway Protection Force, Mr. R R Verma.
 

Others who participated in the roundtable comprised immediate former President, PHD Chamber Mr. Alok B. Shriram, its Secretary General, Saurabh Sanyal, Founder and General Secretary, Prayas JAC Society, Mr. Amod Kanth and Co-Chairman, CSR Committee, PHD Chamber, Mr. Vinod Bansal.
 

The recommendations of the roundtable include scaling up of skilling India, appropriate monitory of placement agencies through suitable laws in place, combat unsafe and induced migration, safety nets for disorganized sectors and minimum wages programme and staff welfare schemes to safeguard the economic and social security.
