MAURITIUS URGES INDIA TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ITS STRATEGIC LOCATION TO INVEST IN IT, SAYS ITS PRIME MINISTER
 

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius Mr. Anerood Jugnauth on Friday asked India Inc. to take optimum advantage of the strategic location of Mauritius and explore possibilities to invest in it as the country could be the most suitable bridge for Indian industry to expand its wings in Africa and Asia.
 

While addressing the members of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today, the Prime Minister called upon Indian industry to help Mauritius increase its manufacturing base as it aspires to take its manufacturing basket to the level of over 25% of its GDP.
 

The country’s GDP is currently dominated by the services sector but to increase employment possibilities, the government Mauritius has been focusing to broadbase its manufacturing with special focus on creating the exclusive economic zones, said Mr. Jugnauth.
 

According to him, Mauritius would shortly become a regional aviation hub as it has been making serious attempts to build airports and through this aviation hub, the economic activities of not only Mauritius but also India will get interlinked and intensify with African countries including Asian continents also.
 

Among others that participated in the interactive session organized by the PHD Chamber consisted of Managing Director, Board of Investment, Mauritius, Mr. Ken Poonoosamy; President, PHD Chamber, Mr. Alok B. Shriram and its Senior Vice President and Vice President Dr. Mahesh Gupta and Mr. Gopal Jiwarajka including Chairman and Co-Chairman, International Affairs Committee for Africa, PHD Chamber, Mr. Sanjeev Sardana and Mr. Ranjeet Chaturvedi.
 

The Secretary General, PHD Chamber, Mr. Saurabh Sanyal moderated the session.
