CONSTRUCTION FOR 100 STORIED SMART SUB-CITY COMPLEX AT KARKARDOMA & SANJAY LAKE BY MID OF 2016 - NBCC TO BUILD IT WITH DESIGNING EXPERTISE OF GLOBAL CONSULTANTS, SAYS DDA VC

Services of a leading global consultant are being elicited to design a 100 storied smart sub-city complex with an approximate investment of Rs.4,500 crore at Karkardoma to be built by National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) under sole administrative control of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for which construction will begin by mid of 2016, according to Vice Chairman of DDA Mr. Balvinder Kumar.
 

Similar complex would also be set up at Sanjay Lake area of Delhi for which the approximate investment volumes are yet to be worked out but this complex too would be developed by the NBCC, he added.
 

Addressing a Conference on “Creation of Housing Stock in India : A Realistic View” under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today, Mr. Kumar also disclosed that two notifications are on cards in next 15 days to execute the Land Pool Policy as well as transit oriented development measures of the government to build a new Delhi as also rehabilitate its 600 slum areas.
 

“With these notifications in place, the DDA will be able to bypass the provisions of the existing Land Acquisition Act to acquire land to re-build the vacant land escape within Delhi to shape up its vertical modern development under the garb of Smart Sub-City model as also transform its slum areas.  In the last decade or so, the DDA has not been able to acquire an inch of land due to provisions of prevailing the Land Acquisition Act”, said Mr. Kumar.
 

Elaborating on the services of global consultant, Mr. Kumar said, “the DDA has received proposals from global consultants from places such as Dubai, Singapore, Paris to design the smart sub-cities complexes to begin with at places like Karkardoma and Sanjay Lake area.  The organizations is short listing their proposals which would be finalized in next few weeks as NBCC has to begin the construction by mid of next year and evolve these complexes into models to be emulated for rest of other complexes in Delhi on pattern of smart sub-cities which would have all the modern facilities including infrastructure of services, hospitality and sports complexes”.
 

The notifications for Land Pool Policy that has been announced on Tuesday and the Transit Oriented Development Policy which would be declared towards the end of this week and subsequently notified would also facilitate land acquisition to lay out the future metro corridors and also help DDA to build about 25 lakhs of dwelling units including units for economically weaker section of society, concluded the DDA Vice Chairman.
