PENALTIES ON CARDS FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS REFUSING TO ACCOMMODATE 3% RESERVATION FOR DISABLED: SECRETARY MINISTRY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE & EMPOWERMENT
 

Secretary Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Lov Verma on Wednesday categorically made it clear that educational institutions would have to provide for minimum of 3% of reservation for disabled persons and those that refuse to adhere to this directive would have to be subjected to severe penalties and even jail terms.

 

Inaugurating a four day Art & Craft Cultural Exhibition “Inspiring Change” which commenced here under the aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said, “The new bill currently pending in the upper house for its consideration would have the aforesaid provisions incorporated in it.  The moment, the proposed bill became an Act, it would have to be implemented in its later and spirit.   Those that refuse to comply with its stipulation would have to face even the stringent penalties including jail terms”.
 

The bill would also have provisions to broad base and widen the basket of disabled persons categories, currently restricted to seven categories to seventeen so that the disabilities of the aggrieved are more than adequately address, pointed out Mr. Verma.
 

Founder Dastkari Haat Samiti Ms. Jaya jaitley, and former Secretary, Government of India Ms. Stuti Kecker were also present on the occasion.  The other leading participants, representing industry who were present on the occasion of the inauguration of the cultural exhibition comprised Sr. Vice President of PHD Chamber Mr. Mahesh Gupta its Chairmen of Culture & Sports Committee and Women & Child Development Committee Mr. Satish Girotra and Ms. Anuradha Goel. The Secretary General of the Chamber Mr. Saurabh Sanyal was also among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
 

PHD “Art & Craft Cultural Exhibition-Inspiring Change”-is a game-changer!!!-The exhibition will be an amalgamation of Innovative and exquisite pieces of craft from our rich cultural heritage and also from around the world. The exhibition will also showcase valuable Sculptures and Paintings by Artists.
 

PHD Chamber also endeavours to showcase myriad arena’s, where Women have made positive gains, inspired change and thus encourage advocacy for women's advancement everywhere in every way, through the medium of Culture.

 

The objective of the exhibition were to highlight the authentic Indian crafts & Handicrafts, innovative & creative initiatives by women, CSR initiatives by companies giving a thrust to women & child development, unique crafts by differently abled children and women, blend of the traditional and modern, an amalgamation of creativity and sculptures & paintings.
