RAILWAYS SEEK INDIAN INC’s PARTNERSHIP TO EXPAND ITS INFRASTRCUTURE —– VINOD KUMAR YADAV

Chair, Railway Board Mr Vinod Kumar Yadav on Tuesday, advised Indian inc to increase its capacities substantially to enable railways secure a very high magnitude of supplies for its massive expansion plans from it – be it in railway infrastructure or signalling or even electrification and so on with high quality stuff.

Addressing 6th PHD Global Rail Convention -2019 here today, Mr Yadav suggested a mechanism to be set up between the Indian Railways and that of Indian inc for their regular interactions so that the proposed supplies are sourced largely from domestic industry provided its quality is not at all compromised.

‘A sort of Committee or Committees are required to be set up in which members from both Indian railways and Indian inc should be drawn to chalk out the future plans jointly so that the proposed infrastructural development of Indian railways become conclusive with the qualitative support of indigenous industry’ said Mr Yadav adding that a fresh visionary document is being prepared by the railways which would be unveiled very shortly.

‘In the proposed visionary document, the railways would come out with its detailed planning with a targeted time period to ensure that in next three years, the infrastructure and other related areas belonging to Indian railways serve the indented purpose with effectiveness’ stressed the Railway Board Chair. 8431 unmanned gate of railways have been zeroed down in the last two and half years, which was a quite difficult task to do this shortest time, Mr Yadav said.

Speaking on the occasion, Member (Traction),Mr Ghanshyam Singh, said that the railways would be making effective use of its land along the railway tracks for setting up of Solar and wind power plants and the time will come when the railways will source its entire power supplies from such source of energy. This is how, the railways proposed to go green, he added.

According to him, the railways are working on multi – pronged strategies to improve its efficiencies to not only ensure operational accuracy in railways movement but also on enhancing the speed of some of its express trains. In this direction, the distance from Delhi to Mumbai for express trains would be curtailed by two hours in next few weeks.

In his welcome remarks, Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Sanjay Aggarwal appreciated the role being played by entire railways to augment efficiencies and operational abilities of railways and urged the Government that Indian inc would prove to be its conclusive partner for transforming the railways.
